In the Chef’s Corner: Savannah’s Restaurant

By Matthew Parkins
Born and raised in Huntington, West Virginia, I was the ripe age of 10 when I moved to Pennsylvania first and then Ohio with my family before returning to the Mountain State. At a young age, I had a beautiful daughter, Haley Marie, and dropped out of high school. I immediately pursued my GED and began work in the culinary field, a choice that has led me to where I am today.

The Cathedral Café

By Wendy Bayes

It has always been my hope that our café would be a symbol of hospitality, a great cup of coffee, good food, good friends and a couple of laughs. Located in the heart of historic, downtown Fayetteville, Cathedral Café customers come from all walks of life—law offices, students and tourists, as well as locals. The bookshelves are stuffed with used books to browse or to buy, and the children’s books are always free. Large stained-glass windows splash colorful light on the hand-painted tables.

Sample the Southern Charm: Café Cimino Country Inn

By Tim & Melody Urbanic

Chef Tim Urbanic was trained as a cook by his Calabrian grandmother, aunt and mother in southern Italian cuisine and other Mediterranean and European dishes. Café Cimino, which opened in 1999 in historic downtown Sutton, was named for Tim’s family as homage to their reverence for food and as a way to honor Grandma and Grandpa Cimino, Italian immigrants who taught him to appreciate the ethnic flavors, to grow the herbs and vegetables and, most importantly, to cook the famous Cimino family recipes.
