Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again” blared over the speakers as my new husband, Eric, and I embarked on a month-long road trip across the U.S. Our goals included jumping into icy glacial lakes, spending time with friends and family, camping under the stars and making lifelong memories. I can assure you we thoroughly accomplished each one.
Over the last few years, an undercurrent of change has been flowing through West Virginia’s economy. Industry and government leaders have recognized the need to diversify in this proud energy state and several sectors have received much-needed investment, creating a renewed sense of hope and possibility.
Many companies in West Virginia have been around for decades and thus have long provided the Mountain State and beyond with essential products and services. Despite their already impressive strategies, there are always opportunities for businesses to excel and innovate. A few local companies have chosen to do just that.
Hard work and determination are notable traits in many West Virginians. They’re always willing to lend a helping hand and give their all each day to keep the state up and running.
In recent years, Huntington and its surrounding cities have seen major growth in education, health care, economic and workforce development and tourism. None of this would be possible without having determined, hardworking and genuine leaders at the forefront.
In August 2016, Sip Downtown Brasserie opened its doors in Huntington, WV, as the perfect place to meet with friends and celebrate any occasion. When Allison White, owner of Sip Downtown Brasserie, took on this project, she wanted to create an inviting space that serves food and beverages with a unique flair.
