The 27th annual Bernie Hutzler Golf Classic, sponsored by University Healthcare, will be held on Monday, June 2 at The Woods in Hedgesville.
Under the leadership of Co-Chairs Selwyn Persad and Gary Spoales, the tournament committee expects to raise $65,000 to benefit the new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at University Healthcare.
To date, over $1.3 million has been raised from this tournament and the former Jefferson Golf Tournament to fund patient care equipment and new programs and services at both hospitals.
“We are very excited to be hosting our 27th annual tournament this year,” stated Teresa McCabe, vice president of marketing and development at University Healthcare. “Some of us were involved in organizing the inaugural Gateway Golf Classic in 1988. It was then and still remains one of the area’s premier golf events, and we are proud to have it associated with our University Healthcare hospitals.”
