More than 500 high school and post-secondary students from across West Virginia are attending the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) State Leadership conference Friday, March 7, and Saturday, March 8, at Marshall University’s Memorial Student Center on the Huntington campus.
The event is sponsored by the Marshall University College of Health Professions. Pam Meadows, an organizer of this year’s HOSA conference and an assistant professor in the college’s department of clinical laboratory sciences, said the students are competing in health-related categories, including hand-on activities in health sciences, health professions, emergency preparedness and leadership and teamwork events. Student participants who place at the top of their divisions will be given the opportunity to compete this summer at the national conference June 25-28 in Orlando, Fla.

Friday, March 7
6 – 8 p.m. – HOSA Opening Ceremony in Don Morris Room in Marshall’s Memorial Student Center
Saturday, March 8
8:30 a.m. – noon: Competitive events begin such as:
Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine – Harris Hall 446
CPR/First Aid – Smith Hall 435
Medical Photography – Student Center 2E10
Life Support Skills – Smith Hall 435
6:30 p.m.: Awards ceremony begins with closing session in Don Morris Room
