West Virginia State University (WVSU) President Brian O. Hemphill will deliver the annual State of the University address at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, in the P. Ahmed Williams Auditorium of Ferrell Hall.
The address is open to WVSU students, faculty, staff and alumni as well as community leaders and members.
“This is an exciting time, as we not only reflect upon the progress we have made over the course of the past year, but also look with anticipation and enthusiasm to the exciting and innovative changes that have occurred, and will continue to take place, at every level of the campus community in the coming months and throughout this academic year,” Hemphill said.
The president will talk about faculty and staff accomplishments during the past year, while also highlighting new developments on campus, including the August dedication and opening of the new Judge Damon J. Keith Scholars Hall.
Hemphill will also review recommendations that followed a Budget Efficiency Summit held on campus in November 2013, and the progress that has been made in meeting those recommendations.
Finally, he is expected to talk about WVSU’s reaffirmation of accreditation, which will culminate with a site visit in April 2015 by representatives of the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
