Boone Memorial Hospital will host its annual Health Fair today, October 3rd, 2014. The event will be held at the Madison Civic Center from 8:00am-1:00pm. This year’s theme is “Building Better Health” to celebrate the recent ground breaking on the new hospital.
The fair will offer discounted blood work, flu shots, depression screenings, chiropractic evaluations, medication reviews and much more.

1. The hospital’s flu vaccine supply is 100% the Quadrivalent (four influenza virus strains – vs – three strains = greater chance of being protected from the strain that hits our area)

Over 50 vendors including local healthcare organizations, Boone Memorial Hospital departments and community groups will be on-hand to provide diabetic information, take blood pressures and finger stick blood glucoses, offer breast cancer education including how to receive free and/or half price digital mammograms during the month of October and information about Boone Memorial’s new Pulmonary Rehabilitation program, to name a few. The Boone County Health Department will also offer pneumonia shots. A free tobacco cessation workshop will be held next door in City Hall from 9am-noon the day of the fair. Hearing tests will also be offered this year among many other services.
Prizes will be awarded every 15-20 minutes and entertainment will continue throughout the fair. Enjoy country line dancers, local singers, bands and more. Food and refreshments will be provided by the BMH Dietary department free of charge. The Dietary Department will also share simple steps to making healthier food choices.
All vendors, volunteers, sponsors and guests are encouraged to bring in non-perishable food items, which will be donated to the Madison Baptist Church Food Pantry. All donations benefit local families in need. Extra door prize tickets will be given to those who donate food. Guests do not need to register to attend the fair unless attending the Tobacco Cessation class.
