University Healthcare and the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center Eastern Division will sponsor a community mini-medical school program on prostate cancer.
The seminar will be held on Tuesday, September 15, in the auditorium of the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center on the Berkeley Medical Center campus. The guest speaker is Eric Whitman, MD, board certified urologist with University Urology Associates. Whitman is a member of the Berkeley Medical Center and Jefferson Medical Center medical staffs and an assistant professor for the WVU School of Medicine.
September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. It is estimated that one out of every seven men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime. Whitman will discuss the risk factors for prostate cancer along with the current screening and treatment options available.
Registration for the mini-medical school program begins at 6:30 p.m. with the program to follow from 7-8 p.m. Light refreshments will be offered at the conclusion of the seminar.
This community mini-medical school program is being offered free to the public as a community service of University Healthcare and the WVU Health Sciences Center Eastern Division.
