Dinsmore & Shohl LLP lands 65th on Law360’s list of the 400 largest law firms in the U.S. Citing the firm’s double digit growth in 2015, Law360 also named Dinsmore as one of “five firms on the rise in 2016.”
To compile the Law360 400 list, the legal news website ranked firms by the number of U.S. attorneys. According to Law360, the average growth for law firms on the list was 1.6 percent, making Dinsmore’s 18 percent headcount increase stand out. The firm’s increase is in part due to the firm’s three mergers.
“2015 was a year of unprecedented growth for the firm. A number of opportunities developed that led to mergers and attracted groups of lateral attorneys to Dinsmore. While the ranking in Law360 is significant, our growth is, and will continue to be, driven by how we can best serve our clients’ needs in terms of services and locations,” said George H. Vincent, managing partner and chairman.
Dinsmore has been strategically growing to meet client needs over the past two years. In 2015, the firm merged with Huddleston Bolen LLP; Gifford, Krass, Sprinkle, Anderson & Citkowski, P.C. and Leventhal Law, gaining offices in Detroit; Ann Arbor; Huntington and San Diego. In 2014, Dinsmore merged with Peck, Shaffer & Williams, gaining its highly respected public finance practice and offices in Chicago and Denver. Dinsmore ranked at 87th on the 2014 inaugural Law 360 400 list, increasing headcount by 14 percent over 2013.
Dinsmore now has more than 625 attorneys with locations in 21 cities throughout California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C. and West Virginia.
To add to its list of accomplishments, the firm’s T. Matthew Lockhart has been elected to the West Virginia State Bar Young Lawyers Executive Committee.
As committee member, Lockhart will assist the Young Lawyers Division in its mission to improve the administration of justice and increase the legal services provided to the citizens of West Virginia.
“I’m extremely excited and humbled for the opportunity to be the Cabell and Wayne County representative on the Young Lawyers Executive Committee. Through our programs, I am confident that we can positively impact not only West Virginia’s legal community, but its residents and its communities in a larger way,” Lockhart stated.
Lockhart is an associate in the firm’s Huntington office, where his practice focuses on commercial, transportation and general civil defense. Matt has federal trial experience and has practiced before West Virginia’s federal and state trial courts, as well as the United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has extensive experience in rail transportation litigation, including derailment claims and Federal Employers’ Liability Act litigation. In 2013, his railroad practice group earned the Top Ranked Railroad Law Firm in the United States distinction by The Best Lawyers in America 2013.
