Good News Mountaineer Garage (GNMG) is celebrating its 15th year as a nonprofit organization in the State of West Virginia. While plans for the nonprofit began in the late 1990s, Good News Mountaineer Garage was officially incorporated on April 12, 2001. Over the past 15 years, the statewide 501 (c ) 3 organization has repaired, repurposed and given out over 2,500 vehicles to qualifying families throughout West Virginia.
“During my time with GNMG, I have been honored to be part of an organization with such a profound and positive impact for our state,” said CFO Charles Hurley. “Getting to know donors, volunteers, Board members, and most importantly, the recipients of donated vehicles through our program, has been incredibly rewarding for everyone associated with GNMG. We truly see how access to safe, reliable transportation allows people to move forward toward economic security and independence.”
Good News Mountaineer Garage will be highlighting their 15th anniversary with events throughout 2016. Recently, the organization had a groundbreaking ceremony at their Charleston facility to mark a paving and green space expansion. And, planning is currently underway for the group’s popular fundraiser, the Garage Ball, slated for October.
