Marshall University is opening the doors of its summer enrichment program in Charleston to children ages 5 through 18 who are flood victims.
Marshall’s summer offering for grades K-12 is now underway through July 14 at Elk Elementary Center in Charleston. The program will be free for flood victims.
The sessions run from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday with breakfast and lunch included. The program will be closed on Monday, July 4.
The annual program is designed to provide children under 18 with activity-based learning experiences and utilizes supervised graduate students in clinical experiences.
“We realize that many families near us are currently suffering, so we’re inviting families to bring their children to this program,” said Dr. Sandra Stroebel, associate dean of Marshall’s College of Education and Professional Development. “We provide academic instruction and social and emotional support. They will be given breakfast and lunch, so just bring the children to the school. We will welcome them into our program.”
Elk Elementary Center is located at 3320 Pennsylvania Ave. in Charleston. For more information contact Stroebel at stroebel@marshall.edu or by phone at 304-746-2032.
