Due to the recent closure of West Virginia Business College (WVBC), the West Virginia Community and Technical College System will host two events for former students who wish to discuss options for their future.
Tuesday, July 18, 2017, students can visit Pierpont Community and Technical College, Caperton Center from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm. Wednesday, July 19, 2017 students can visit WV Northern Community College, Wheeling campus from 9:00 am to 11:30 am.
Students may attend a workshop at either location. Representatives from West Virginia Junior College, Pierpont Community and Technical College, and WV Northern Community College will be on-site to discuss student transfer options. Additionally, Ed Financial, a student loan servicer, will provide students with loan advice about their existing loans and explain eligibility and application requirements for loan forgiveness.
“We have put together a team of people who can help students navigate their options,” said Chancellor Sarah Armstrong Tucker. “Students will be able to learn more information about transferring to another institution and /or the possibility of discharging their student loans. We hope students will take advantage of this opportunity and attend a workshop so staff can work with them individually to find the right solution for their future.”
On Monday, July 10, 2017, students received an email announcing the permanent closure of both the Wheeling and Nutter Fort campuses of West Virginia Business College due to declining enrollment.
The Community and Technical College System of West Virginia is doing everything it can to help WVBC students transition smoothly. Students are encouraged to attend either event as an opportunity to ask questions and find a clearer path to continuing their education.
