The Appalachian Children’s Chorus (ACC) is excited to announce that as part of expanding its horizons, it is initiating two new choirs in the fall of 2019, namely, the ACC Academy at Mary C. Snow West Side Elementary School and a Homeschool Choir. Each choir will be 8-weeks long and will participate in our annual Christmas concert on December 8th. The choirs will begin rehearsing on Thursday, October 3rd.
“ACC aims to reach as many children in West Virginia as possible with its life-changing program,” said Selina Midkiff, Founding and Artistic Director of the Appalachian Children’s Chorus. “We have partnered with Mary C. Snow West Side Elementary School to start a choir in their school as part of their afterschool program. We have also reached out to the local homeschool community to offer an option for their children’s music education. We are thrilled about the possibilities these new choirs bring as we expand our horizons.”
The cost of the ACC Academy in 2019-2020 is covered by a generous grant from The Jeanne G. Hamilton and Lawson W. Hamilton, Jr., Family Foundation, Inc. ACC is grateful for their support of this new initiative. The Homeschool Choir participants pay a nominal fee of $50 for twelve hours of music education. As is true with all of ACC’s programs, financial aid is available for those who qualify. Both programs will be offered in the spring for another eight weeks.
The ACC Academy and Homeschool choirs move ACC forward in its mission to provide artistic excellence, a quality music education, and extraordinary opportunities while creating a positive effect on the lives of West Virginia’s youth.
