It marks the beginning of the season of giving when Morgantown-based WVAQ Radio and MVB Bank once again partner to promote and distribute “Change Bandit” bags for local stores, companies, community groups and individuals to collect spare change to benefit West Virginia University’s Children’s Hospital Fund.
For the second consecutive year, MVB Bank will be responsible for collecting the Change Bandit bags, counting the money and delivering a check for the community at the “Q for Kids Radio-thon” scheduled for Nov. 15-16 on WVAQ-FM Radio at 101.9.
A new feature of this year’s program is that MVB Bank will now match the total amount of change collected from all participating locations.
A program that began as a radio promotion five years ago, “Change Bandits” is a way for everyone to eliminate the clutter of spare change for a great local cause. It’s easy to participate. Visit a local MVB Bank branch to pick-up the change collection bags. Each bag includes instructions for collecting change and registering your team’s participation, along with delivering bags back to an MVB branch by Friday, November 9.
“All spare U.S. change is welcome from car consoles to counter tops at home to the change jar in your bedroom that collects pocket change each day,” said Lacy Neff, WVAQ program director and creator of this holiday benefit promotion. “Each year the ‘Change Bandit’ program for WVU Children’s Hospital provides financial support for a special designated project at our Children’s Hospital. It’s a great way to clear coin clutter, and to do something for the entire community. This year, contributions from all of the change collected will be doubled as MVB Bank will match the total amount collected.”
