Spilman Thomas & Battle (Spilman) announced that Lisa M. Hawrot of the law firm’s Wheeling office recently was named a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML).
Academy Fellows, such as Hawrot, are highly skilled negotiators and litigators who represent individuals in all facets of family law. These areas include divorce, annulment, prenuptial agreements, postnuptial agreements, marital settlement agreements, child custody and visitation, business valuations, property valuations and division, alimony, child support, and other family law issues.
The AAML’s selection method involves a long application process, requiring the recommendations of five judges and three attorneys, successful completion of a 2 ½-hour exam, and an interview with three AAML board members.
Hawrot is only the fourth attorney in West Virginia to be named a Fellow of the AAML.
“This is a testament to Lisa’s character, skill and dedication to clients,” said David R. Croft, member in charge of Spilman’s Wheeling office. “Lisa is very deserving of this great commendation from the AAML.”
