The Snowshoe Foundation today announced the 4th Annual Treasure on the Mountain event raised over $140,000. At the conclusion of the event The Snowshoe Foundation has raffled off $1 Million in cash and prizes. Treasure on the Mountain is a raffle that consists of $250,000 in cash and prizes. Numbers are drawn, lottery style, from 3 pm to 7 pm with a winner every five minutes. Treasure is the largest of the 3 annual fundraising events the Snowshoe Foundation holds to help support the local community. At the end of this upcoming grant cycle the Snowshoe Foundation will have awarded over $1M to the Pocahontas, Randolph and Webster communities through grant awards and higher education scholarships.
“Our goal at the Snowshoe Foundation is to enhance the quality of life in Pocahontas, Randolph and Webster counties by financially investing in local organizations or individuals working in the areas of health, human services, education and the arts, recreation, culture and the environment,” explains Stephanie Dilley, executive director, Snowshoe Foundation. “The Foundation is particularly interested in projects involving youth and families”.
Some of the projects funded completely or partially by the Snowshoe Foundation in 2012 are:
Pocahontas County Family Resource Network – safe sleep for infants
Randolph County – Valley Head Fire Department – smoke detector program
Webster County Family Resource Network – back to school splash.
This past grant cycle the Foundation awarded $30,000 in higher education scholarships and grant awards in the amount of $93,000, returning to their community over $120,000. A full list of award recipients can be found at www.snowshoefoundation.org.
