More than a dozen Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine students, nursing students and medical residents, along with several faculty physicians, will be at Harris Riverfront Park Saturday, Dec. 22, as part of Marshall Medical Outreach, a program that offers medical care to people who are homeless or underprivileged.
The services are provided at the park beginning at 9 a.m. and generally run until noon.
Saturday’s event will also feature the giveaway of dozens of gift bags filled with winter staples, which were collected and organized by several faith-based groups that partner with MMO.
MMO was created in 2011 as a volunteer opportunity for medical students, resident physicians and faculty interested in providing health care to homeless and needy individuals in Huntington. The group provides free medical assessment, treatment and referrals once a month at Harris Riverfront Park in Huntington.
For more information on the service project please contact Dr. Charles Clements, professor of family and community medicine, at 304-691-1198 or Missy Browning at 304-634-7574.
