WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital (PCH) is pleased to announce that Joseph M. Baisden, M.D., Ph.D., a distinguished radiation oncologist, has joined the PCH team.
Baisden’s office will be in the Radiation Therapy Department at the PCH Bluefield Campus.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Baisden. He has a long history of providing excellent care to the people of this region, and we are excited that he is joining the PCH team,” PCH President and CEO Karen Bowling says. “Dr. Baisden is the first of several key positions we will announce as we move toward opening our new comprehensive cancer center in Princeton in 2027.”
Born in Winchester, VA, and raised in Romney, Baisden brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of radiation oncology. He has dedicated his career to providing the highest quality cancer care to the people of Southern West Virginia.
Baisden earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from West Virginia University (WVU) in 1995 and went on to complete his M.D. and Ph.D. in microbiology, immunology and cell biology from WVU in 2003. His dedication to continuous learning led him to earn an M.B.A. from the University of Illinois in 2022.
Baisden’s career is marked by his commitment to advancing cancer treatment. He completed his residency in radiation oncology at the University of Virginia, where he served as chief resident from 2007 to 2008. Since then, he has held several significant positions, including radiation oncologist at Louisville Radiation Oncology, assistant professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School Radiation Oncology Department and medical director at GenesisCare of WV.
Throughout his career, Baisden has been recognized for his contributions to cancer research and treatment. His numerous awards include the Radiological Society of North America Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award and the Constable/Agarwal Award for Resident Research. He has also contributed to several key publications and presentations in the field.
