YWCA Charleston will transition from the previous year’s Foodie Feast to Thanks Giving, a digital donation campaign running November 1-28. Each tier of giving is based on classic Thanksgiving dishes, allowing you to contribute while celebrating the flavors of the season. Sponsored by Encova, this annual event began over 25 years ago as a dinner at Wellington’s and has now evolved into a modern, virtual experience where you can support a great cause.
Many Kanawha Valley restaurants supported our virtual and in-restaurant events during COVID. This year, we’re excited to introduce our “Levels of Giving” tiers as part of the YWCA’s Thanks Giving initiative campaign, aiming to raise crucial funds for the YWCA Sojourner’s Shelter for Homeless Women & Families. Instead of attending another holiday event, we invite you to help us provide a memorable feast for the residents and families at Sojourner’s Shelter.
All contributors will be recognized on the YWCA Charleston website and social media outlets. Your generous gift is changing lives and making a direct impact on the families we serve in crisis. Funds collected will be used to provide food, personal care supplies, and other needs for the residents and families at YWCA Sojourner’s Shelter. Plus, with your donation, you’ll be entered for a chance to win a pair of tickets to a WVU men’s basketball game!
All proceeds benefit YWCA Sojourner’s Shelter for Homeless Women & Families, which serves homeless single women, women with children, men with custody of their children, intact families, and veterans. The program provides shelter, counseling, substance abuse intervention, educational advancement, job training and placement. In the last year, YWCA Sojourner’s provided 23,738 nights of shelter for 610 homeless children and adults.
The funds from Thanks Giving help bridge a financial gap within the Sojourner’s program, where we can continue addressing the needs of the entire family by providing a safe environment of hope, dignity, and acceptance. Sojourner’s residents can actively engage in the services available to achieve economic and housing stability.
