Enjoy a romantic home-cooked dinner at the Beverly Heritage Center’s At the Heart of a Heritage event, Saturday, February 16. This annual Valentine’s Day celebration features a three course meal and the opening of new local history exhibits.
Beverly Heritage Center Director Darryl DeGripp invites the public to enjoy this special event. “Whether you prefer to dine alone with your valentine, or socialize with friends, this event offers an outstanding meal in a unique heritage setting,” DeGripp said.
The tantalizing dinner will begin with tomato bisque soup, field greens salad with toppings, and home-baked bread with flavored butters. The entrée course, served about 7 pm, will feature seasoned grilled beef tenderloin from Campbell’s Market, garlic mashed potatoes, and winter vegetables almandine. Assorted desserts and chocolates will complete the evening.
The Open House starting at 6 p.m. will offer a preview of two new exhibits that will be featured in the Beverly Heritage Center for 2013. The story of Beverly’s Laura Jackson Arnold, sister of Stonewall Jackson, will be told with quotes, photos, and artifacts. A second rotating exhibit featuring images of Beverly’s past will also be previewed. This rotating exhibit is the first in a series on local history to be unveiled throughout the year at the Beverly Heritage Center. Included in this first rotating exhibit are images of Beverly streetscapes, personages from the area, and a vintage Valentine’s Day card collection.
The Beverly Heritage Center combines four important historic buildings, each meticulously rehabilitated to retain their historical integrity. The entrance gallery connects them and provides a welcoming gathering space for events such as Heart of a Heritage. All proceeds from this popular fundraising event support continued development and ongoing programs of the Beverly Heritage Center.
Tickets for Heart of a Heritage are $45 each, or $85 per couple, with reservations requested. Doors will open at 6 p.m., Saturday, February 16th.
