Hospital Day at the Legislature is an annual event bringing hospital leaders and health care professionals from across West Virginia together with state lawmakers to discuss issues impacting hospitals and patient care statewide.

This year’s event is set for Thursday, February 12, 2026 and will take place at the West Virginia State Capitol Complex in Charleston, WV.

Hospital and health system leaders, health care professionals, hospital advocates and members of the West Virginia Legislature will be in attendance.

Hospital representatives from across the state will meet with legislators to highlight the vital role hospitals play in providing lifesaving care, supporting local economies and ensuring access to care for all communities across West Virginia.

Discussions will focus on key issues impacting hospitals and the patients they serve, including:

  • Access to care and hospital financial viability
  • Regulatory, administrative and operational processes
  • Health care workforce challenges
  • Community health needs

Hospitals remain one of West Virginia’s largest employment sectors, generating approximately $16.9 billion in economic impact statewide. Hospital Day at the Legislature ensures policymakers hear directly from hospital leaders about the challenges and opportunities facing the state’s health care delivery system.

“Hospital Day at the Legislature provides a special opportunity for health care providers across our state to engage directly with lawmakers and ensure their voices are heard,” says Jim Kaufman, West Virginia Hospital Association president and CEO. “As hospitals face critical challenges—from federal policy changes that could fundamentally reshape health care financing to workforce shortages and regulatory burdens—it is more important than ever for legislators to understand how their decisions affect hospitals’ ability to care for and serve their communities.”

Hospital leaders and health care professionals meeting with legislators will be available for interviews throughout the day.
