Teacher education students in Concord University’s EPAT (Educational Psychology, Assessment and Technology) have collaborated this semester with their counterparts at Victoria University in Australia, exchanging information on school systems, types of diversity, teaching methodologies, large-scale assessments and issues in education, among other topics.
The students will share their findings at the Global Collaboration Symposium on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Poster presentations will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Ballroom of the Jerry & Jean Beasley Student Center on the Athens campus.
During the symposium, students will demonstrate diverse technologies (Skype, Google Docs, Voice Thread, Wikis, etc.) while underlining cultural awareness and acceptance.
EPAT is taught by Dr. Anita Reynolds, Dr. Terry Mullins and Dr. Mark Angle. The three Concord professors, along with Dr. Greg Neal from Victoria University, will present highlights of their global collaboration at the e-Learning International conference in October.
To enrich the Global Collaboration Symposium, students from Athens School will be visiting Concord University on the same day for a Global Diversity event. EPAT students will share technology and school differences with the 3rd graders, while conducting small group interactive lessons on history, math, science and diversity. The lessons will center on the Australian theme.
Dr. Lauri Reidmiller, associate professor of art, and her education students will take the Athens students on a safari. They will also participate in an interactive art lesson related to Australian culture.
