Leisha Elliott, Executive Director for the Convention & Visitors Bureau of Marion County, has earned her certification as a Travel Marketing Professional (TMP) after completing a three-year program of the Southeast Tourism Society (STS) Marketing College.
The STS Marketing College is a professional development program that for one week each summer meets in Dahlonega, GA at the University of North Georgia. Tourism professionals from across the southeast learn about travel and hospitality marketing trends from leaders in the industry. The STS Marketing College instructors are working, experienced professionals from across the United States who not only bring expertise, but real-world knowledge and experience to the classroom.
Elliott, along with 57 classmates, was recognized at the STS spring symposium and Marketing College graduation luncheon in Lexington, KY March 25, 2014.
“This was a great opportunity to continue my education and learn from industry leaders who are at the top of their field. Tourism trends are constantly evolving as well as the economic impact that tourism plays in our country’s financial viability,” Elliott said. “During this time we experience a broad-based curriculum of courses designed to teach marketing techniques from all facets of the tourism industry.”
The Convention and Visitors Bureau of Marion County is the official destination marketing organization of Marion County; it strives to support the tourism industry in the county to further enhance the economy here and across the state.
