A visit to Blennerhassett Island is steeped in history. The island is also a wildlife habitat. Join the “Nature Nuts” and learn more about the natural habitat and history of Blennerhassett Island July 5.
“Trees Have Feet, Too” is a guided discovery walk about the ecological role of trees. Participants will learn the hidden functions of roots, xylem and phloem, bark and leaves to the water cycle and health of trees. The activities begin at 2 p.m. and conclude around 3:15 p.m. There is no charge to participate in the event, although there is a fee to ride the Island Belle sternwheeler to the island. Boat tickets are sold at the Blennerhassett Museum at 137 Juliana Street in Parkersburg, West Virginia. The Island Belle boat captain will announce the “Trees Have Feet, Too” location as you arrive at the island.
