BridgeValley will offer an EKG/ECG Technician Certification Training course that will prepare students to function as EKG Technicians and to take the American Society of Phlebotomy Technician’s (ASPT) Electrocardiograph Technician exam. This training will be held beginning August 26th to October 23rd, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday & Thursdays at the South Charleston location.
This comprehensive, 60-hour certification course will include important practice and background information on anatomy of the heart and physiology, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient contact, laboratory assisting, electrocardiography and echocardiography. Students will practice with equipment and perform hands on labs including introduction to the function and proper use of the EKG machine, the normal anatomy of the chest wall for proper lead placement, 12-lead placement and other clinical practices.
The registration fee is $1,600 and includes the following:

- Determination of Immunizations
- Any required immunizations
- Certification exam fee (one time)
- Criminal background screening

Course Prerequisite: Successful completion of Phlebotomy Technician training or have documentation of six months of employment in a medical laboratory setting.
