Cozy School Bus Conversion
Shepherdstown, WV
This 1997 school bus is a popular West Virginia destination for fun-loving travelers. After Will Sutherland purchased it from an auction and converted its interior for sleeping accommodations, the bus found new purpose as a quirky, pet-friendly stay just outside of Shepherdstown, WV. The bus features a queen bed, a kitchen table with original bus seats and a small deck on the exterior. Sutherland enjoys offering guests a wild and wonderful West Virginia experience.
Cozy West Virginia Tree House
Shepherdstown, WV
Situated 20 feet above a rock outcropping between oak and hickory trees, this 164-square-foot treehouse in Shepherdstown, WV, has been a favorite for tourists since its completion in March 2021. The treehouse features a queen bed, lofted full mattress, cozy window nook with huge windows, a tiny kitchen with a mini-fridge and cooking supplies and a large deck overlooking a hollow.

Four Fillies Lodge is home to 93 idyllic acres with a creek and wooded views. The stay has a large loft, a smaller loft and a sofa bed. Unplug from technology—though TV and Wi-Fi are available—and cook out and relax by the fire in the evenings.

Lost River Modern is a contemporary cabin set into the side of a wooded ridge. It’s the perfect balance between a secluded getaway and all the comforts of home. The Spruce Mountain Cabins tent allows guests to slumber in a comfortable queen bed while enjoying their private campsite. The tent is situated in a meadow overlooking the mountains where visitors will be secluded and surrounded by nature. The amenities include a mini-fridge, outhouse, outdoor shower enclosure, propane stove, fire pit, picnic table, bedding, towels, bathroom facilities, a wood stove and electric lights. There is much to do in the area, including hiking, rock climbing, zip-lining, exploring caves, viewing waterfalls and stargazing.
The Barn Loft

Tucked away off Route 19, only two miles from the New River Gorge, is The Barn Loft. The red barn sits nestled in a forest of tall trees. The intimate space envelops guests in all the charms of being outdoors but without as much fuss. A canopied bed sits in the back, dressed in down and pillows, while a table beckons for a picnic. The owner, Holly Clark, has furnished the charming spot with antiques and collectibles from local shops. There are board games, puzzles, a garden, a swing and a clearing that’s perfect for toasty starlit evenings around the fire.
Ulan Bator Yurt
Circleville, WV
The Spruce Knob Mountain Center (SKMC) is located 4,000 feet above sea level in Pendleton County, WV. The property is the main campus of Experience Learning, a 501(c)3 nonprofit educational organization. A unifying theme of respect for the environment, wildlife, resources and each other permeates all the programming. Guests can reserve a space at Experience Learning for a private getaway. Ulan Bator is one of the yurts available for rent. This stay has a kitchen, dining area, upstairs library, full-size bed and third-level aerie, which includes a star-gazing window, making it the perfect place for astronomy lovers on a cold winter night. Visitors will have access to the main campus of SKMC and amenities.
