“This disease is only a test. It doesn’t diminish the music that lives inside me,” said musician Glen Campbell in his 2014 documentary, I’ll Be Me. Campbell, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2011, and members of his family have sparked a nationwide campaign for awareness and research for the disease.
On Saturday, Nov. 21, Cabell Huntington Hospital (CHH) Senior Services and the Chateau D’Italia will present “A Tribute to Glen Campbell, an Alzheimer’s Awareness Benefit.” The cost of the event is $50 per person and includes a five course Italian meal. Campbell’s daughter, Debby Campbell-Cloyd, will provide entertainment that evening and discuss her new book entitled “My Life and My Father Glen Campbell.” Proceeds will benefit the Cabell Huntington Hospital Alzheimer’s Support Group.
“We are happy to partner with the Chateau D’Italia to bring awareness about this debilitating disease,” said Teresa Sexton, director of nursing and senior services at CHH. “This is a unique opportunity for people to enjoy a great meal and listen to an inspirational story from a family member who is dealing with Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia, and is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States.”
Chateau D’Italia is located at 1293 Township Rd. 158 in Chesapeake, OH. To make reservations, call 304.208.4525 or 740.867.3112. For more information call Senior Services at 304.526.2695.
