BridgeValley Community and Technical College has open enrollment for Certified Bookkeeper course, starting in January 2015. This course provides 90-hours of in-class instruction, six textbooks, and certification exams. This course is eligible for six credit hours for instruction and prepares students for the certification from the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers.
Students must have 1 year of college accounting or two years of bookkeeping experience to qualify for this class. Additionally, students must pass four national and two classroom exams to obtain certification from the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers. Topics included in this class are standardized terminology, adjusting entries, correction of accounting errors, mastering payroll, depreciation, inventory, as well as internal controls and fraud prevention.
Class runs from Friday, January 23rd to Saturday, April 25th, 2015. Classes will be held on Friday evenings, from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m.to 1 p.m. The cost of the class is $1,538. This class is approved for Higher Education Adult Part-Time Student Grant Program funding, up to $1,338.
