Cabell Huntington Hospital is reaching out to help provide relief and support to the flood victims in eastern Kentucky. The organization has begun a system-wide request of donations that will be transported to those in need in Johnson County, Kentucky. Donations must be made by 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21.
“We continually strive to be good neighbors and reach out to our community when there is a need,” said Tim Martin, vice president of Ancillary and Support Services. “A staff member, Stacy Collins Hash, lead PICU transport nurse, brought this idea to the forefront because it is important to us to give back. Our staff is working hard to collect donations and items that are needed for those who have been affected by this natural disaster. We encourage anyone who is interested in donating, to participate.”
The recent storms that have swept across the region have caused many families in eastern Kentucky to lose their homes and contents. Staff members are currently gathering items and collecting donations through Tuesday, July 21. At that point, all of the donated items will be transported to Johnson Center High School and distributed to area victims.
Items that are currently being requested and accepted include:
- Baby diapers, baby food, baby formula
- Non-perishable food items, can openers
- Personal hygiene items: contact solution, toilet paper
- Tylenol/aspirin, ointments, band aids, bug spray
- Flashlights, batteries, blankets/pillows
- Jackets, rubber boots
- Cleaning supplies: rubber gloves, bleach, bleach wipes, mops, buckets, brooms, dust pans, Lysol, towels, wash cloths
All donations must be received by Tuesday July 21at 4:30 p.m. and can be taken to the Greenway/MU Cabell Main Entrance for drop-off. Monetary contributions are also being accepted. An account for “Eastern Kentucky Relief Fund” has been established with the CHH Credit Union 304.526.2097.
