U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), chairman of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, today announced several U.S Department of Homeland Security (DHS) grants totaling more than $8 million dollars that will benefit West Virginia. As chairman, Senator Capito oversees funding for all aspects of the department, including its many grant programs.

“As chairman of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, I have worked to ensure that the funding needs of our federal, state, and local partners are met to ensure the safety and security of West Virginians and all Americans. This funding will support the implementation of state homeland security and emergency management strategies—including training, equipment, and technology. Additionally, through the Nonprofit Security Grant program, increased support will be going to specifically protect places of worship. I am always focused on making sure that West Virginia receives the resources it needs, and I will continue to do so.”

  • State of West Virginia (State Homeland Security Program) – $4,077,500
  • State of West Virginia (Emergency Management Performance Grant Program) – $3,771,594
