Business leaders completing terms on the Board of Directors were honored by the Charleston Area Alliance. Bill Signorelli, Security America, and Trip Shumate, Charleston Newspapers, were honored for their service on the Charleston Area Alliance Board of Directors. Shumate and Signorelli had served on the board since its inception in 2004 and were elected to the maximum number of terms allowed by the bylaws of the Alliance. Both served with distinction and helped to form the Alliance over the past ten years into the dynamic economic and community development organization that serves the Kanawha Valley today.
Patrick Bond, Mountaineer Capital, who has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the maximum term allowable for the Chairperson of the Alliance Board was also honored.
Bond will remain on the Board of Directors and, after four years as Chair, said, “It has been an honor to serve as Chair of the Alliance Board over the past four years. I was born in this city, educated in the state, have worked and raised my family here. I am particularly proud of our State and our region. Furthermore, I am committed to its growth so that the next generation will have the opportunity to work and raise families here. To have had the opportunity to work with the wonderful Alliance staff and Board toward making our city and region one which promotes business and quality of life issues has truly been a blessing. I am particularly proud of the work we have accomplished on Vision 2030 and Imagine Charleston and, perhaps even more importantly, on the growing collaboration between the Alliance, the Kanawha County Commission and the City of Charleston. I feel these partnerships are critical for the future development of the region.”
The Charleston Area Alliance Board of Directors elected new officers for the organization during its regularly scheduled Board meeting. The Charleston Area Alliance has a 38-volunteer member Board of Directors. Officers elected for 2015 include:
- Michael J. Basile, Chair Spilman, Thomas & Battle
- Steven M. Rubin, Vice Chair Blue Creek Gas Company
- Sally Smith, Secretary Bowles Rice
- J. Mark Bias, Treasurer BB&T
“I have big shoes to fill following Chairmen Jack Rossi and Pat Bond as our recent leaders, but pledge to do my best to promote and fulfill the important goals and aspirations of the Alliance toward making our community a better place to live, work and play,” said Basile.
