College Goal Sunday is an opportunity for students and families to get free help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). College Goal Sunday will be held on Feb. 21, 2016 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 25 locations across the state.

Local financial aid professionals will offer oneonone, confidential support to anyone planning to attend college – regardless of their age or income. Visit www.cfwv.com for details and to register.

College Goal Sunday workshops will be held at Concord University’s Athens (Rahall Technology Center, Room 103)  and Beckley (Erma Byrd Center, Computer Lab) campuses.

Completing the FAFSA is one of the most important steps in preparing for college. Any student planning to enroll or re-enroll in college next year should complete this important form. That includes adult learners and returning college students.

College Goal Sunday is staffed by financial aid experts who will not share families’ information. Students who participate will submit the FAFSA onsite through the federal government’s online form, which is completely secure.

Students and families participating should bring their FSA ID, social security number and 2015 tax records. Those who have not yet completed their 2015 taxes can bring their 2014 forms. For a complete list of what to bring visit www.cfwv.com

Free income tax return preparation will be provided on Feb. 21 during College Goal Sunday in Athens and Beckley through the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program. Please note that this service is for College Goal Sunday participants only.

The College Goal Sunday program was created by the Indiana Financial Aid Association with funding from the Lilly Endowment, Inc., and with supplemental support from the Lumina Foundation for Education.

The College Foundation of West Virginia (CFWV), the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission, the West Virginia Council for Community and Technical College Education, the West Virginia Department of Education, and the West Virginia Department of Education and the Arts work together to coordinate the event in West Virginia.
