Dr. Greg Rosencrance Receives American College of Physicians Laureate Award at WV Chapter Meeting

Greg Rosencrance, MD, professor and chairman of the WVU Charleston Division Department of Internal Medicine, and President and CEO of the West Virginia University Physicians of Charleston was honored with the presentation of the Laureate Award at the West Virginia Chapter meeting of the American College of Physicians held at Stonewall Resort. The Laureate Award is presented to long-standing and loyal supporters of the College who have rendered distinguished service to their chapters and community and have upheld the high ideals and professional standards for which the American College of Physicians is known.

Dr. Rosencrance is a native of Charleston, West Virginia, and completed his Doctorate of Medicine at Marshall University in Huntington in 1988. He finished his Internal Medicine Residency at Charleston Area Medical Center/West Virginia University, Charleston Division and served as co-chief resident in his final year of training. He has been a member of the faculty of the Department of Internal Medicine at West Virginia University, Charleston Division since 1991. Currently he serves as the Chairman for the Department of Internal Medicine, WVU Charleston, a position he has held since 2001. He has numerous teaching and academic achievement awards.

Dr. Rosencrance is proud to be a part of a distinguished medical team at the WVU campus in Charleston. West Virginia University’s Charleston Division is the nation’s oldest regional medical education campus. The Health Sciences Center in Charleston houses divisions of the West Virginia University Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Social Work, and some 100 faculty and 400 clinical faculty provide training and educational oversight to both medical student clerkships and to the CAMC residency programs. Each year more than 80 medical students and 150 residents choose to come to the WVU/CAMC Charleston campus programs to further their education. Through its partnership with Charleston Area Medical Center, WVU Charleston educates over 500 students, researches in over 500 areas, hospitalizes over 40,000 patients, and treats over 200,000 outpatients. Their services reach over 25 counties on any given day.

The American College of Physicians (ACP) is a national organization of internists — physicians who specialize in the prevention, detection and treatment of illnesses in adults. ACP is the largest medical-specialty organization and second-largest physician group in the United States. Its membership of 133,000 includes internists, internal medicine subspecialists, and medical students, residents, and fellows.
