Myra Lucas, the lifestyle coordinator at The Arthur B. Hodges Center, the memory support neighborhood of Edgewood Summit senior living community in Charleston, has been honored as West Virginia’s Outstanding Assisted Living Professional by The West Virginia Health Care Association (WVHCA). The award is given out annually to West Virginian who showcases outstanding performance and commitment to long-term care.
Lucas was nominated by her coworkers at Edgewood Summit, where she’s worked for more than five years. She has experience in assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care and dementia services. She engages the residents using techniques and strategies she’s learned through her vast experience and expertise in dementia training.
WVHCA is a statewide nonprofit organization representing long-term care and assisted living communities in West Virginia. The Ridgemont and Arthur B. Hodges Center at Edgewood Summit were also recognized by WVHCA for being deficiency-free in health and life safety in 2017. Lucas, as well as the Edgewood Summit, team received their awards during a ceremony on Tuesday, May 8.
