Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and First Lady Joanne Jaeger Tomblin today announced plans for the 2016 Easter Carnival on Saturday, March 26, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at State Capitol Complex.
“Joanne and I would like to personally invite West Virginians from across the state to join us as we kick-off the spring season in the Mountain State with this year’s Easter Carnival celebration,” Gov. Tomblin said. “This family-friendly event will hold a number of games and activities across Capitol Complex, including the eighth annual A. James Manchin Memorial Marble Tournament at the Culture Center. We hope you will join us.”
“This annual event has become a favorite of West Virginia residents and their children for several years,” First Lady Tomblin said. “The Governor and I hope that everyone, young and old, will come out again this year and enjoy another fun-filled celebration of the season.”
The North Plaza of the State Capitol Complex will be transformed into an Easter Carnival complete with games, prizes, food and an appearance by the Easter Bunny. Door prizes for children 12 years old and under will be awarded at noon.
Immediately following the Easter Carnival, the West Virginia Division of Culture and History will host the eighth annual A. James Manchin Memorial Marble Tournament. For more information about the tournament, contact Chris Reed, cultural program specialist for the Division, at (304) 558-0220, ext. 185.
Visitors accessing the Capitol must enter at the west public entrance across from the Culture Center. All visitors will be required to walk through the security access point before entering the building.
