Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and Secretary of Transportation Paul Mattox were joined today by U.S. Senator Joe Manchin and representatives from U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito’s office, the Appalachian Regional Commission and the Federal Highway Administration, along with state and local officials, to open a 7.9 mile section of Corridor H.
This completes the new four-lane highway from Wardensville west to Davis, W.Va. With this stretch of highway complete, 102 miles of the approximately 132 mile Corridor H project are complete.
“Today’s ribbon-cutting represents a collaborative effort among federal, state and local partners, and I’m grateful for everyone’s continued support and commitment to the completion of this milestone project,” Gov. Tomblin said. “I’m confident the continued progress on Corridor H will make a lasting impact for the people of Tucker, Grant, Hardy and surrounding counties – as well as our entire state – and provide businesses and industries in West Virginia with the solid infrastructure they need to operate and expand.”
“I am proud that we continue to make tremendous progress on this highway,” stated Secretary Mattox. “This nearly 8 mile section brings Corridor H into Davis and shows our commitment to completing this important east-west Corridor. I am also pleased that we are moving forward with an eye toward doing it the right way, environmentally.”
In addition to bringing the Corridor west into Davis, the Division of Highways currently is working on two sections from Kerens to Parsons.
