The Marshall Recreation Center will host the 2014 Healthy Herd Youth Camps beginning May 27 and running through August 8. The camps will run weekly with two different age groups: ages 5-10 (Little Marcos) and ages 11-15 (Future Herd).
The 2014 camp is full of new, exciting activities like Kidobics (aerobics for kids) and dance lessons from different decades. Kids will learn about different countries and their premier sports. Kids can even become superheroes and make their own capes and masks. Other activities include obstacle courses and water games (perfect for hot summer days).
Each weekly camp will feature a different theme, with different activities tailored to the theme. Some of the themes include A Bug’s Life, MU Olympics, Great Outdoors and Operation Splash Down.
Campers should bring a water bottle (labeled with his or her name), sunblock, swimsuit and towel, gym bag or backpack (labeled with their name), and a lunch. A healthful snack will be provided in the morning and afternoon. Lunches will be stored in camp coolers and should be labeled with the camper’s name.
Weekly prices are as follows: $110 for members, and $135 for non-members. Each day of camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Before- and after-care is available if needed. Care is free for members of the Recreation Center and $8 per day for non-members.
Registration and health history forms can be found at the Membership Service Desk in the Marshall Recreation Center or at www.marshallcampusrec.com. All forms must be completely filled out before kids can attend the camp.
