West Virginia University Hospitals-East and the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center Eastern Division will sponsor a community mini-medical school program on healthy living.
The seminar, titled Obesity Crisis in America, will be held on Tuesday, March 12 in the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center on the City Hospital campus. The presentation, featuring guest speakers Mark Cucuzzella, MD, and Joan Starliper, MS, RD, LD, will include information on weight control, proper nutrition and exercise to help prevent disease and achieve optimal health.
Cucuzzella is a nationally ranked distance runner and family medicine physician at Harpers Ferry Family Medicine. He is a professor for the WVU School of Medicine, and is on the medical staff at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Starliper is a registered dietician for The Wellness Center and provides outpatient diabetes counseling at City Hospital.
Sign-in for the community mini-medical school program begins at 6:30 pm, with the program to follow from 7 – 8 pm. Light refreshments will be offered at the conclusion of the seminar.
