Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield West Virginia announced today that as part of its 6th annual Ks for Kids program, the company will donate $5 to The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club for every strikeout thrown by a West Virginia Power pitcher at Appalachian Power Park this season.
“Through our annual Ks for Kids program, Highmark West Virginia and the West Virginia Power have the opportunity to spotlight an outstanding program in our community that is making a difference in the lives of our children,” said Jim Fawcett, president, Highmark West Virginia. “At Highmark West Virginia, we care about the communities we serve and supporting the Boys & Girls Club is just one of the ways we can give back.”
The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club offers young people what they need and want most – adults who respect and listen to them; a safe environment where they can have fun and be themselves; and interesting, constructive activities that channel youthful energy into challenging pursuits.
“The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club appreciates the support of Highmark West Virginia and the West Virginia Power baseball team for this season-long, fund raising campaign”, said Major Brooks Gilliam, Area Commander. “We also appreciate the increased awareness this initiative brings, allowing us to showcase our organization and mission of delivering impactful programs that builds character and self-confidence, and instills a sense of belonging, competence, usefulness and influence.”
This is the sixth year that Highmark West Virginia has partnered with the West Virginia Power as part of the Ks for Kids program. Since 2014, $12,500 has been awarded through Ks for Kids to four different organizations.

The 2019 West Virginia Power baseball season kicks off on April 4 at Greenville, SC against the Greenville Drive. This year marks the 15th season for the West Virginia Power.
