University Healthcare Jefferson Medical Center will host a Community Baby Shower on Saturday, November 2 from 9 am until 1 pm in the hospital’s first floor conference room.
Mothers and fathers-to-be as well as new moms and dads are invited to celebrate new life and parenthood by attending this free educational event. “The purpose of the Community Baby Shower is to provide a forum for expectant and new families to learn about topics that are important to the health and well-being of new babies,” stated Arlene Fernandez-Anderson, director of clinical support and outreach services at Jefferson Medical Center.
According to Fernandez-Anderson, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with Jefferson Medical Center professionals and community representatives to get answers to questions regarding all aspects of pregnancy to birth, to baby and beyond. Jefferson Medical Center will also offer free ultrasound pictures to any pregnant women attending with a signed waiver.
WVU Women’s Health Center physicians Dr. James Murray and Dr. Angela Oglesby will be available to answer questions along with Dr. Avinash Purohit, University Healthcare’s new neonatologist.
Information will be provided along with door prizes and refreshments. Vendors include representatives from area spas, child care centers, and various community organizations. Door prizes will be given away each hour including gift baskets with chocolates, a spa gift basket, a Longaberger basket with goodies, and a 31 bag with baby gifts. Free chair massages will also be offered throughout the event.
