Where West Virginians Work

Hard work and determination are notable traits in many West Virginians. They’re always willing to lend a helping hand and give their all each day to keep the state up and running.
With data from WorkForce West Virginia, you can now see where citizens report to work each day. Below, West Virginia Executive (WVE) has created a map that shows the top private employers for each county.
When WVE collected this data in 2014, it showed that state-run organizations were the largest employers in 29 of 55 counties. Now, a decade later, that number has increased to 31. Furthermore, 24 of the privately owned largest employers are health care-based.
