The Marshall University Speech and Hearing Center (MUSHC) will hold its graduation ceremony for the St. John’s Tiny Talkers Book Club at 1 p.m. today at St. John’s House.
The Tiny Talkers Book Club was established in 2013 and focuses on emergent literacy for 4-5 year-olds. The class at St. John’s was established this summer through a literacy grant from Phi Kappa Phi to focus on the needs of children who come from low-socioeconomic backgrounds. Jen Baker, speech language pathologist in the MUSHC, said programs like this provide a solid foundation for youth in regard to language and literacy.
