Mayberry’s Family Restaurant in St. Albans is planning its second annual Mayberry’s Day to be hold on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at their location at 1481 MacCorkle Avenue in St. Albans, W.Va.
Last August, new owners Jamie and Lisa Driggs hosted the event, and hundreds of visitors from five different states came to join in the day’s activities that took place both on the restaurants lot in the Kmart plaza and in the restaurant.
This year, they are bringing back the events that were popular last time and adding some new ones that are sure to be a big hit. “Last year’s grand re-opening was the biggest day in Mayberry’s history,” said Owner, Jamie Driggs. “This year we are pulling out all of the stops to make it even bigger and better.”
Included in this year’s Mayberry’s Day will be a pig roast, a cornhole tournament, a pie and cake contest, a Mayberry’s trivia contest, a Mayberry character look-alike contest the Klassy Kruzer’s car show and more. Cash prizes, gift certificates and awards will be given throughout the day for each of the contest events.
Entertainment will include exhibitions by the West Virginia kickers and Mountain Valley Cloggers and a concert by St. Albans based bluegrass band, the Grass Stains.
Mayberry’s is a family restaurant with a theme that mixes the down-home charm of the Andy Griffith show and its characters with an old fashioned ice cream counter. They offer daily lunch and dinner specials with favorites like baked steak, meat loaf, chicken and dumplins, as well as homemade cobblers, cakes and bread puddings adding to their ice cream desserts. The addition of a banquet room has given area groups a great place to gather for meetings and social events.
