West Virginia’s foundation and corporate giving community descends on Huntington Tuesday through Thursday for Philanthropy West Virginia 2016 Annual Conference. The conference convenes private, family, corporate, community and public grantmaking foundations, corporate giving programs, and individual philanthropists for two days focusing on community revitalization and professional training. The conference is taking place October 25th-27th at the Big Sandy Civic Arena’s Conference Center.
This year’s conference theme “Philanthropy Revitalizing out Communities” encourages philanthropy to show vitality in order to be a force for change in their communities. The conference will cover many areas from Huntington’s revitalization to recovery efforts that were in place due to the June floods. The conference’s speakers include local, state and national leaders on issues such as education, economic development, community development, health, and disaster recovery to spur community improvement in the state. During the conference, three major announcements will be made (21 at The Frederick’s Banquet Hall):
- USDA officials will join Philanthropy WV and the WV Nonprofit Association to announce a major multi-year grant for community capacity building in 5 WV counties.
- Progress in building partnerships with National Foundations
- Celebrating success on WV Legislature’s passage of the WV Neighborhood Investment Program renewal
