West Liberty University has selected Marshal Larkey as the new regional admissions representative for the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. His focus also includes the metro-counties of Maryland and Virginia.

“We are pleased to have Marshal working with us and helping us to bring the value of a West Liberty University education to more students and families,” said Director of Admissions Brenda King.

Larkey was officially selected for the position on Oct. 1 of this year and is now recruiting prospective students, visiting high schools and reaching out in social media. He replaces Andrea Schafer who served in that position for five years.

“West Liberty University has so much to offer these students. Our campus is safe and academically strong. We have a variety of degrees, great athletics, strong performing and visual arts, clubs and more. Plus it’s a friendly campus with individual attention,” said Larkey.

A graduate of Brooke High School, Larkey went on to receive a criminal justice degree from Troy University in Troy, Alabama. He served in the United States Army for 21 years, retiring as First Sargent of the National Ground Intelligence Center.

He is currently a resident of Alexandria, Va., where he spent the past seven years doing contracting work for the Department of Defense.

West Liberty University is a forward-looking, four-year public university steeped in a rich heritage as West Virginia’s oldest institution of higher education. Led by President Robin C. Capehart, West Liberty is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Five colleges make up the University: the College of Arts and Communication, the College of Education, the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Science and the Gary E. West College of Business. All offer a personalized education delivered by a team of highly qualified faculty, with more than 60 majors and 30 programs that are nationally recognized or accredited.

There is also a School of Professional Studies offering graduate programs including the Master of Arts in Education, Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies and the new Master of Professional Studies degree. WLU also offers several degree completion programs for non-traditional students, including its Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership and Administration (BLA) and the Regents Bachelor of Arts degree.
