Join women from across the state and region as they gather to honor and learn from each other’s experiences and celebrate their aspirations at the WV Women’s Leadership Summit, “Catalysts for Success”. The Summit will open on Thursday, April 14, with a reception and dinner with keynote speaker Heather Arnet, Chief Executive Officer of the Women & Girls Foundation. The dinner will also include a screening of Arnet’s film, Madame Presidenta: Why Not U.S.? The agenda for Friday, April 15 includes keynote speeches by WV Public Broadcasting Director of News & Public Affairs, Beth Voorhees, and the Adjunct General of the Maryland National Guard, Major General Linda Singh.
Topics for breakout sessions include women in law, athletics, energy, philanthropy and the military. The West Virginia Woman of the Year and the West Virginia Woman of the Year Awards will be presented for the first time at the conference. The West Virginia Woman of the Year Award recognizes an individual woman who has distinguished herself professionally, in her community or as a leader, and has demonstrated her commitment to the state and people of West Virginia. Most importantly, she serves as a role model for other women. The West Virginia Woman Rising Star Award will recognize the same accomplishments in women aged 30 or under.
