Robinson & McElwee PLLC member John C. Palmer IV was presented with the 2018 Defense Attorney of the Year award by the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia (DTCWV) in recognition of his distinguished service to the legal profession in the Mountain State through his work with DTCWV.
Selected from among over 500 attorneys, this prestigious annual accolade is awarded to a DTCWV member who has made significant contributions toward achieving DTCWV goals and objectives, demonstrated ethical, personal and professional conduct consistent with DTCW ideals and provided distinguished service to the profession and the civil defense bar.
“Receiving recognition by peers and colleagues in the legal community is a tremendous honor” said John Palmer, a fourth-generation attorney and a founding member of Robinson & McElwee.
With more than 40 years of experience as a trial lawyer, John has tried numerous civil and criminal cases in federal and state courts and has argued appeals before the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Outside of the office John has taken on challenges of a different sort for the last 40 years as a runner in the grueling 15-mile Charleston Distance Run, America’s only 15-mile distance run. In addition to running in the race each year, John has been Race Director of the scenic but challenging course for the past eight years.
