Run For The Wall XXVII; Wild, Wonderful West Virginia (GoToWV) and the West Virginia Department of Veterans Assistance will honor military members, veterans and their families May 21 at 9 a.m. at the State Capitol.
Run For The Wall is an annual motorcycle ride with veterans, friends and family riding across the United States to promote healing among veterans and their families and friends; call for an accounting of all prisoners of war and those missing in action (POW/MIA); honor the memory of those killed in action (KIA) from all wars; and support our military personnel all over the world. Riders from across the country will pay their respects to West Virginians who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
During the event at the State Capitol, Department of Veterans Assistance Secretary Rick Thompson will present a proclamation recognizing veterans and those still serving in our Armed Forces as well as those who support our military families as participants in Run For The Wall.
Following the proclamation presentation Wild, Wonderful West Virginia will unveil its new brochure honoring the many West Virginians—past and present—who have served in the armed forces. The brochure recognizes the state’s everyday heroes, highlights military sites throughout the state and includes an overview of West Virginia’s service from the Revolutionary War through the Iraq War. The West Virginia Department of Veterans Assistance, the West Virginia Division of Culture and History and e-WV: The West Virginia Encyclopedia contributed to the brochure.
