President, RWR WV, LLC & Morgan County Commission
By Arianna Whitehair
Sean Forney, president of RWR WV, LLC and the Morgan County Commission, is literally and figuratively rising to every challenge life hands him. An adventure seeker and family-oriented businessman, Forney is working to grow his commercial insurance agency to $30 million in premium by 2030, training to climb Mount Everest in 2023 and emulating what it truly means to put family first in the process.
“First and foremost, I am a husband and a father to four beautiful children,” he says. “My commitment to my wife and my children is that despite how busy my professional life is, I will always be there.”
Growing up in Berkeley Springs, WV, Forney credits his parents, humble upbringing and current business partner, Todd Roadman, for equipping him with the necessary knowledge and skills that allowed him to get to where he is today.
Stepping into the workforce at just 13 years old and working at a local McDonald’s throughout high school, Forney quickly learned the power of positivity and the inherent value of customer service.
“Working at McDonald’s on the front line taught me how important customer service is and to always strive to be positive, as you never know what kind of day the person on the other end of the conversation may be having,” he says. “To this day I wake up with a reminder on my phone to make it a great day.”
Channeling this mindset into everything he does, Forney has helped Morgan County soar to new heights.
“As president of the Morgan County Commission, I enjoy doing the very best job I can for the people of Morgan County,” he says. “The process of planting seeds for the future growth and continued success of our county through infrastructure improvements has been the hardest but most satisfying part of being a county commissioner.”
One testament to his sheer dedication to bettering his community lies in the unconventional location of his current RWR WV office: an old Sheetz gas station.
“After Sheetz built its new location, its old location sat vacant in the heart of the community,” he says. “I saw an opportunity to upcycle the old building and turned it into a beautiful office space for my insurance agency and a much-needed pediatrics office. When looking at new projects, I always try to keep some of my focus on how I can make positive improvements to this thriving community.”
Always in search of ways to stay involved, Forney is an active volunteer and donor for numerous organizations, a guest speaker for local schools and sports teams, a senior mock interview volunteer with Berkeley Springs High School and a youth coach for baseball, basketball and soccer.
“Our youth are the next generation of leaders and helping to guide them through life is very important to me,” Forney says. “We all remember the one coach we loved as a kid; I try to be that coach for every kid I work with.”
Forney also serves as the current vice president for the Morgan County Economic Development Authority, is a board member with Morgan County Emergency Services, Morgan County 911 and the Morgan County Fire Board and serves in the Berkeley Springs Rotary Club.
“It’s important for me to donate to nonprofits because Morgan County has done so much for me since I was a child,” he says. “I feel it is only right for me to donate back to the community.”
A down-to-earth personality, a passion for mountain-climbing and a home-is-where-the-heart-is mentality, Forney continues to sing praises for the unending beauty and charm of his beloved state.
“West Virginia is the best state in the country,” he says. “Our people are what makes us great, and everywhere I go, I am proud to say I am from West Virginia.”
