U.S. Senator-elect Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) today received Senate committee assignments for the 114th Congress. She will serve on the Appropriations Committee, the Energy and Natural Resources Committee and the Environment and Public Works Committee.
Senator-elect Capito issued the following statement:
“These committees address some of West Virginia’s most critical issues and will enable me to be a powerful voice for West Virginia coal, jobs and families.
“I look forward to working on the Senate Appropriations Committee to give West Virginia a seat at the table when our nation’s spending priorities are determined. I will work to ensure West Virginia’s priorities are our nation’s priorities.
“My 12 years of service on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has prepared me to hit the ground running on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee to pass a long-term highway bill and bring improvements to West Virginia’s infrastructure and highways. I will also be in a position to fight the EPA’s job-killing regulations.
“On the Energy and Natural Resources Committee I will strongly advocate for policies that protect West Virginia’s energy jobs and ensure coal and natural gas are part of an affordable and reliable energy mix.
“I am honored and excited to serve on these committees, and I look forward to working with my Senate colleagues to return the Senate to a deliberative body that engages in substantive debate and is focused on providing the results Americans expect and deserve.”
