The Shentel Foundation, a part of Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (“Shentel”) (NASDAQ: SHEN) and based in Edinburg, Va., today announced a $50,000 commitment to Leadership West Virginia (LWV) over the next five years, deeming it the first Diamond Sponsor of the program in 2019.
“Shentel looks forward to this partnership with LWV and sees the value in the organization’s mission to prepare leaders to move West Virginia forward,” said Chris French, President of Shentel and of the Shentel Foundation.
As a provider of Internet, video and phone services and Sprint-affiliated wireless services, Shentel has customers and employees throughout the state of West Virginia. “Shentel’s history of success is based on purposeful forward movement, which is similarly emphasized by the LWV program,” French said. “We are invested in West Virginia and thrilled to be a part of such an innovative and business-minded organization.”
LWV Executive Director Pam Farris said the program, now in its 28th year, has grown into a widely recognizable program in West Virginia with more than 1,400 alumni and a dozen long-time sponsors who give significantly year after year to support scholarships, speakers and session content, and who provide value to the program and its sessions around the state.
Farris said Shentel’s generous giving supports LWV’s mission to move West Virginia forward. “The Foundation’s contribution greatly increases our opportunities to expand our core leadership program in 2019 and we look forward to a continued relationship with them.”
